I had the idea for this album while working the worst job of my life up until that point (it was my first). I immediately told my friend Camera whom I’d known since middle school who was working the same shift as me. I told him: “what if I sung a buncha Christmas songs and made an album outta it?”. Needless to say he loved the idea and so did everybody else I told about it.
I had friends over a few times to record and probably a dozen people who wanted to feature on it. My friends and I just screwed around, so not much work got done. The announced release date was December 3, 2025 (my half birthday) and by the time it came I hadn’t done any work on it. I had one song done, which I didn’t even make. I contacted D.B. Rouse, a folk singer I had heard as a child on the Grand Canyon Railway and asked if he’d make a song, which he did.
The next day, December 4, was a snow day. I worked my ass off all day to produce this album on that day. Basically all I did was put a .MIDI file into a digital audio workstation and changed some instruments and sung over it, which is probably why it sounds like shit. It took another day for it to release on all platforms, though Bandcamp came out on time. I racked up around $21 of Bandcamp sales, all from my friends, which put me at only $50 in the hole.
I want to remake this album, but make it good, and also do a Volume 2.
